June 11th

Seeding of 10 Approach with Chewings fescue and Bentgrass

Today Environment Canada is calling for cloudy with sunny periods. A few showers beginning this afternoon with a High of 18 and UV index 5 or moderate. Tonight a few showers ending this evening then cloudy with a Low of 10.

Golf carts ARE PERMITTED today. Green speed is 8 feet with recent greens aeration.

As you may have noticed after verticutting fairways and aerating tees, there are some areas that look dried out. This is part of a long term plan to eliminate excessive thatch build up and incorporate more stress tolerant grasses. A mix of Chewings fescue and Bentgrass is being overseeded into these extremely thatchy areas of the course. By completing this process with regular verticutting, aerating and topdressing we will not only improve the overall playability of the course but also reduce our need for water, fertilizer and pesticides.

Greens and tees will be topdressed again next Tuesday June 14th and will follow a reoccurring 2 week cycle for the rest of the summer (greens).

Have a great round.
