Staff training yesterday on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) |
It's been a great week for weather with consistent daytime temps in the 20's and nights above double digits. The last couple days temps reached a high of 26-28 degrees. Today Environment Canada is calling for it to be cloudy with sunny periods with a high of 26. 30 percent chance of showers this afternoon. Fog patches dissipating early this morning. UV index 8 or very high. Tonight it will be cloudy with 30 percent chance of showers early this evening. Clearing near midnight. Low 12.
Golf carts ARE PERMITTED today. Please use cart paths where provided, avoid wet areas and scatter to avoid unnecessary wear on turf.
Green speed 9 feet and is rising slowly with drier conditions but remains a little slower with recent aeration and the extra sand that is in the turf canopy.
Today the greens are being sprayed with a wetting agent called Revolution. It helps produces drier and firmer putting surfaces under wet and dry conditions. It helps save water by reducing irrigation frequency and allows increasing run times without puddling. The product saves on labour by dramatically reducing the need for hand watering of isolated dry spots. It ultimately strengthens the turf’s natural ability to withstand stress and disease pressure.
Fairway overseeding of Chewings fescue will continue today on dry fairway locations to get seed into slits from verticutting.
