Gardens are in pristine condition for peak season at Club |
The gardens are now in pristine condition for the peak season at the Club. Thanks to Chris Cumming, Landscape Horticulturalist (pictured above left) and assistant Scott Riley (above right) for hosting a Garden Tour for the members enjoyment yesterday throughout the property.
The hot weather is back with some added humidity than the last stretch of warm weather a week ago. Environment Canada is calling for the weather to clear and be sunny and hot once the showers end early this afternoon. High 26 today. UV index 6 or high. Tonight: Clear. Wind west 20 km/h becoming light late this evening. Low 14.
Golf carts ARE permitted at this time. Green speed is 10 feet.
The course is playing really well right now with the drier weather and the extra ball roll on greens and fairways. It's been nice with the lack of rain this July to be able to regulate the amount of water though the irrigation system the course receives to attain the desired playability levels. It's no fun playing a wet, muddy golf course! Extra roll and bounce off the playing areas is a fun part of the game of golf!
Isolated areas on fairways that were solid tine aerated on 13, 16, and 17 were overseeded using chewings fescue a grass that is adapted to dry conditions which should be perfect for these areas.
Weak, thatchy tee locations that were solid tine aerated on Tuesday were topdressed yesterday to cover seed and help dilute thatchy turf.
13, 16, and 17 fairways overseed with Chewings fescue |
Patches of turf that have not shown significant recovery will be addressed through sodding over the next couple of weeks. The patch of turf in front of the 13th green was sodded yesterday. Some areas have a difficult time coming up from seed due to the inherent foot and cart traffic in the location.
