August 16th

Tees aerated this morning holes 1-10

It looks like a great day ahead with Environment Canada calling for it to be sunny with a high of 28. UV index 8 or very high. Tonight: Clear. Low 10.

The course is showing some significant recovery from the previous week's heat stress with the recent rain and slightly cooler temperatures.  We will take advantage of the current conditions over the next couple weeks to perform some aerifying and overseeding to encourage establishment of some new grasses that are more tolerant of drought and disease pressure.

We've had 20 mm of rain in the last week. Golf carts ARE permitted today. Green speed is 9.5 feet with last night's deep watering. Please remember to repair ball marks and divots.

Today being Tuesday, there are a few maintenance operations under way:
  1. The fairways are getting their 21 day interval spray of Primo Maxx.  Also added to the tank is Enfoss foliar fertilizer for some disease suppression through nutrition vs. chemical inputs.
  2. The tees are being aerated, overseeded and topdressed today holes 1 through 10 to remove thatch, allow water penetration and help recovery from peak season play.  The remainder of the back 9 will be completed on Thursday (weather permitting).
  3. Underbrush cutting around 12 tee will continue today to complete work of removing over overgrown raspberries and weeds to the left of tee surface.

A reminder that greens will be verticut (groomed) and topdressed this coming Tuesday August 23rd.
