May 19th

It's Saturday of the May long weekend and it's great seeing the course busy once again to kick-off another season.  The weather looks great with sun all weekend and temps of 26-29 degrees with very low humidity make for excellent golf weather.

There is some pretty firm conditions out there now with only a trace of rain since the first week of May.  We've been able to dry the golf course out pretty well for this time of year.  Green are approaching the low end of our target green speed for the season (9.5-10.5)

Golf carts ARE PERMITTED for full use today.  Keep carts to paths whenever possible and obey the WHITE LINE rules approaching green surrounds.

You can use seed bottles on fairways and rough this season
You can use SEED BOTTLES on the FAIRWAY and the ROUGH this year.  We changed our divot mix to exclusively Chewings fescue which makes both a good fairway and rough grass.  We switched from using solely bentgrass from before, which doesn't make a desirable grass to have in the rough.  Tee divots will be filled exclusively by maintenance staff and the divot boxes have been removed for this season as explained on bulletin board.

MORE SAND was placed in bunkers on No. 5 and No. 8 yesterday.  We will continue this program in the coming weeks to ensure the bunker sand levels are sufficient for summer season play.  No. 6, No. 10, No. 16, and the chipping green remain on the list for top-ups.

Select areas around green surrounds have been CORE AERIFIED and OVERSEEDED this week.  Please treat these areas as GROUND UNDER REPAIR if your ball lands in a spot that doesn't provide a playable surface.

Fairway and tee GRANITE YARDAGE MARKERS have been edged for the weekend.  We still have the time-consuming job of edging all the SPRINKLER HEADS to display more yardages for golfer convenience.  The list is long this time of year and we keep plugging away at the priority items.

Coming off your boat you may have noticed the sick looking SOD on CLUBHOUSE LAWN laid this week.  It arrived questionable late Tuesday from the sod company and some of it doesn't look like it will make it.  The good news is the sod company will be sending up a couple of skids (no charge) since it arrived too dry and had been sitting on the truck too long.  The bluegrass sod was fine.

We hope you enjoy the course playing conditions for this early part of the season.  Have a great round!
