June 4th

Artistic rendition of Dave Ellis by G.H. Morden
We started the morning preparations with a full moon in the sky for today's 26th Annual Dave Ellis Pro Am.  Over the past quarter century, this tournament has single-handedly raised more than $500,000 for the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation. Dave Ellis was the son of a Bracebridge physician and became an incredibly well respected golf pro at the Muskoka Lakes Golf & Country Club. He had an extraordinary passion for life, people and the game of golf. His enthusiasm was infectious and his friends are still involved in organizing the event every year.

Today Environment Canada is calling for a mix of sun and cloud with 30 percent chance of showers this afternoon. High 16. UV index 8 or very high. Tonight: Partly cloudy with 30 percent chance of showers early this evening. Clearing this evening. Low 6.

Golf carts ARE PERMITTED for full use today.  Please keep to cart paths where provided and keep to high and dry locations while transporting around the golf course.

Crew starts at 5:00-5:30 am to prep course for day
A wet weekend with close to 50mm (2inches) of rainfall.  Thankfully no rain since yesterday at 1pm to allow course to drain.  Green speeds were measured at 9.5 this morning with the relatively soft and moist conditions.

A reminder that tomorrow we will be core aerifying isolated fairway dry/thatchy spots on select holes and overseeding with chewings and bentgrass.

Have a great round!
