Area right of No. 15 green sodded today |
The course is holding up well despite the hot, dry weather with no significant rain for well over a week now.
There has been some turf thinning on the putting green which suffers from excess traffic due to its inadequate size and poor growing environment with all the trees.
Today the crew is working on a project of sodding around the rock right of No. 15 green. The area was stripped right down to the collar to define a definite transition from bentgrass to the bluegrass rough. The traffic area underneath was core aerified to give the new sod some place for the roots to penetrate into the soil.
Speaking of No. 15 green, the elm tree right of the green is in serious decline with dead branches and loss of leaves and will be removed next week on Tuesday or Thursday. It has elm disease and is one of the last survivors on the property so we are sorry to see it go. It can be seen in the background of the picture above.
A reminder to members of this Saturday's Greens Department Town Hall Meeting held in the boathouse from 1-2pm. Come hear more about what goes on behind the scenes at you golf course.
Also a note that greens will receive their biweekly topdressing this coming Tuesday July 10th.
Have a great round!
