August 17th

Select fairways sprayed with Rovral Green to control dollar spot disease this morning
A little more rain overnight which we really didn't need at this point.  The 10mm (or just under 1/2") rain we received has puddled up the clay fairways leaving standing water.  We hoped for drier conditions for the upcoming Club Championships this weekend.

Golf carts ARE PERMITTED but PLEASE keep carts on paths where provided at ALL TIMES and avoid low lying wet areas.

It has been a difficult year for Dollar spot disease this season and as a result another spot spray application will be sprayed this morning to knock back the further development of the disease.  ROVRAL GREEN will be applied on No. 5, 11, 15, 16, 17 and 18 fairways.

There is a full mow day today with all playing surfaces (greens, tees, fairways, approaches and rough) getting mowed.  Bunkers may have to be pumped in some locations and hard rakes will be used to loosen up the wet sand and aid in drying.

A reminder of the cultural practices underway next week to aid in the recovery of the golf course from the excessive heat and drought from this summer.  Tuesday: greens will be vented and spot aerified with 1/2" cores in the bare/thin expansion areas to promote recovery with bentgrass overseeding.  Fairway expansion areas will also be topdressed to help level these extended areas.  Select thin rough will be aerified or slitseeded to promote hardier grasses that required less water, fertilizer and pesticides to promote healthy turf.

The Club Championships are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday starting with 7:30 tee times. Good luck to all participants in this weekend's competition!
