June 14th

Fairways on Holes 13-18 left to topdress today

COURSE MAINTENANCE

Fairway Expansion Aeration/Overseeding/Todpressing - We started the fairway topdressing yesterday and got all the way through No. 11 when it started to rain hard and shut down the operation.  Today we have fairways No. 13-18 to complete before the weekend.
Tees Primo Maxx Application - Today the tees will be sprayed with Primo Maxx to regulated upright growth and increase turf density and stress tolerance.
No. 2 Green Sod Topdressing - The sodded areas on No. 2 received a heavy topdress yesterday to help smooth the surface.  It was not aerated this week with the other greens with the sod not totally knitted yet.

No. 2 green heavy topdress of sodded areas before rain yesterday

WEATHER CONDITIONS
By early afternoon temperatures reached 24 degrees on our weather station followed by a thundershow with 10mm of rain from 3-5pm.  Last night it dipped down to 11 degrees by day-break with today expected to be clear and sunny with a high of 22 degrees with a high UV index.

GOLF CARTS are permitted today.  There will be some isolated wet areas in the low spots with the thunderstorm yesterday afternoon.  Please use caution and keep on carts whenever possible and avoid wet low lying areas.

COURSE PLAYABILITY
Ground Under Repair - Treat all new sodded areas IN ROUGH as 'ground under repair'.  No. 18 fairway has been overseeded to recover ice damage.  Treat any bare areas on No. 18 as 'ground under repair'.
Greens - Green speeds are slow at the moment with softness from aerification, extra topdress and wet conditions.  Green speeds expected to be 8 by this afternoon.
Rough - Rough is well cut down for play for this coming weekend.  It remains pretty thick with the perfect growing conditions for bluegrass turf.  Take an extra club when playing out of these zones.
Bunkers - The bunkers in a little rough shape this moring with some washouts and some standing water in some of our poorly draining end of life bunkers.  We will get them all pumped out today and ready for weekend play.

No. 9 bunkers shown above need drainage work
Driving Range -  The driving range is closed until further notice.  The PTO pump continues to run 24/7 and didn't loose any ground after yesterday's rainfall, but no gains either.  With little rain expected in the forecast we should be able to keep gaining of the water level over the weekend.
Course Etiquette - Please remember to repair ball marks and replace divots.  If carrying your golf bag and using the sand tubes, please use on FAIRWAYS ONLY.  Maintenance staff repairs all tee divots and uses a different seed then what is used on fairways.

TREEWORK
Some of the wood from the fallen tree right of No. 5 green was picked up yesterday.  The remainder will be drawn out of the area before the end of the day.

Have a great round!
