Storm overnight rolls through course dropping 21mm rain by 6am and still coming! |
The course has standing water after showers rolled through the course after midnight. There is more rain on the radar and looks like it will clear later on this morning but they are calling for a risk of a thunderstorm. The daytime high is predicted to reach 22. Tonight it will clear with partly cloudy skies and a low of 13.
GOLF CART USAGE
Golf carts will be PROHIBITED this morning as the storm rolls through and the course has a chance to drain. We will reassess the situation for this afternoon. If restrictions get lifted later today, please 'high and dry' and keep carts on paths where provided and avoid any low lying areas.
PLAYING CONDITIONS
Sodding attempted today on front of No. 5 (low spot) which caused winter damage (spring picture above) |
No mowing or rolling today with excessive wet and soft conditions. As a result, expect green speeds to be a lot slower than yesterday.
We will attempt to sod the front of No. 5 green and raise the low spot before approach which caused winter damage by preventing the flow of water off the front of the green.
Tees and Fairways
The fairway Primo Maxx + Triton spray application was cancelled today due to weather. It now may be Thursday of next week before this spray goes out with the long weekend, Men's day, Ladies' day busy event schedule.
These areas will be mowed Friday before the weekend. Some of the crew will focus on repairing divots today on these surfaces.
Rough
Mowing of rough was postponed today with wet conditions. Manpower used to repair divots instead and one man sent home for the day.
Bunkers
Two men will be assigned today to shovel up sand, check depths and add new sand as required to select bunkers.
Ground Under Repair - Treat all new sodded areas IN ROUGH as 'ground under repair'.
UPCOMING TURF PRACTICES:
Have a great round!

Course Etiquette - Please remember to repair ball marks and replace divots. If carrying your golf bag and using the sand tubes, please use on FAIRWAYS and ROUGH ONLY. Do not use sand tubes or bottles to fix tee divots!!! It is different seed and it's the golf course maintenance staff responsibility to repair all tee divots on a periodic basis. Using the sand and seed mix on tees will also deplete your available material for fixing fairway and rough divots prematurely! Thanks for your cooperation!
UPCOMING TURF PRACTICES:
- Continuing overseeding on greens 14, 17, 3, 5, and 7 as weather permits.
- Finish plugging No. 10 approach and other misc locations.
- Sodding the front of No. 5 low
- Overseed driving range (Wednesday August 7th during closure)
- Thursday August 8th:
- Greens verticut and topdressed
- Fairway Primo Maxx + Triton (dollar spot) application
Have a great round!
