Additional road safety signs placed on holes 8, 11, 13, 15 and 16 |
Additional road safety warning signs were placed on holes No. 8, 11, 13, 15 and 16 yesterday. The existing sign before No. 2 tee was replaced to match the other new signs for consistency.
Earlier in the season some needed pruning was completed on No. 2 and No. 11 to enable golfers a better view of traffic coming along Ferndale road. Tomorrow the maintenance crew will squeeze in some additional needed sight-line tree trimming on tees No. 8 and right of No. 16. A pine tree (or two) left of No. 8 tee may have to be removed to see cars coming from west onto the course. The review of sightlines along the remainder other holes playing along the road (No. 13 and 15) still appear satisfactory, but will be monitored for required pruning as tree growth progresses.

Today is Ladies' Day on the course. It's looking like a perfect morning for golf with sunny skies and a high of 24 degrees. The pink flag poles are out, changed up with the regular coloured flags to aid in distinguishing pin location. The field will play off the regular green blocks for this morning's competitions; The Frances Fairhead Morton Trophy and the Liphardt/Dunbar Trophy.
The course has been prepared with greens cut and rolled, pins and blocks changed, and bunkers hand raked. The bunker/tee rough surrounds will be mowed prior to heading down to the driving range for it's weekly mowing routine.
The driving range will be open for Ladies' to practice up to 9:30am, when it will then close for maintenance until 1:00pm. The new driving net will be available during that time for anyone who wishes to hit some balls.
Don't forget about tomorrow morning's greens verticutting and topdressing scheduled. The greens maintenance process to help control thatch will followup with a granular fertilizer application in the afternoon. Some sprinklers will be run to water in the product into the turf canopy.
Have a great round!
