Wet Weather Continues With Another 25mm of Rain Overnight

Another 25mm of rain overnight saturating course

The rain before ladies' day yesterday made things a little wet.  But now after another 25mm of rain overnight, the course has unfortunately become saturated.

This morning golf carts will be permitted to MEDICAL ONLY particpants, till this afternoon, when we can reevaluate the situation.  More rain is forecast for this afternoon, so the rest of the day may be a wash for carts for regular players.

With the wet weather, the greens were left unmowed this morning to avoid the chance of scalping the greens with the soft conditions.  The tees were cut and the pink pins were flipped back to the standard yellow flag sticks.

On the positive side, this rain has done a great job in washing in the sand topdress on fairways and tees from Tuesday's busy work day.

A large crew was sent out this morning to make repairs to the bunkers equipped with pumps, shovels and hard rakes to get the bunkers back in an acceptable state for the coming weekend.

The monthly application of Oars wetting agent will be applied this morning to alleviate localized dry spot on greens and allow the penetration of water deep into the greens profile to promote a healthy root system.

In Canadian golf news don't forget to watch how 16 year old Brooke Henderson fairs in day 1 of the CP Women’s Open, which begins today at the London Hunt and Country Club. This is an event that hasn’t been won by a Canadian in 41 years.  Jennifer Kirby, who will play in a group with Henderson to open the week says “She hits it really far and she really grinds it out.” Canadian women's golf icon, Lorie Kane has stepped in to mentor Brooke.  “Lorie’s an amazing role model for me,” Henderson said. “Even this week, she’s come down and chatted with me a couple of times just about my future and how I should be playing this week and what I should be expecting. I love just being able to talk to her and just gain from her experience.”
