Mum's The Word

The fall golf weather with cooler temperatures and the potential for frost is now upon us.  The turf growth is starting to slow down with the cooler nights reducing our mowing requirements to keep up on the long grass.  Leaves are starting to fall and soon more time will be spent blowing instead of mowing.

The gardens add some nice contrast to the green turf in and around the property.  The colours in the gardens are starting to fade with the onset of fall weather.  Fall chrysanthemums have been added around certain points of the property to maintain colour and contrast.

Today is the last quarter moon phase.  This week will have days with highs in the mid-teens and nights at single digits.  A bit of rain is in the forecast for today and Wednesday.  Some warmer weather predicted for the weekend with highs close to 20 and lows in the double digits but with the potential for rain.

This Thursday Sept 18th, the OPP Andy Potts Memorial Tournament will be held at the Club starting with an 11:30am shotgun.  Some morning tee times will be available for members who want to squeeze in a round before the start of the event.

Some fairway landing zones on the front 9 will be topdressed early this week to fill in depressions from divots and traffic.  Other than that, there will be no other projects and just focus on the general maintenance of the golf course during this great fall golf weather timing.  The greens will have rebounded completely this week from the aeration and topdressing last week to make for some great playing conditions on the course.

Enjoy your rounds!
