The natural grass teeing area at the driving range is a nice feature to have at our golf course. With only a half acre of teeing area available, it's important that players are aware of the correct way to take a divot while using the practice tee to maximize it's use for everyone's enjoyment. Simply randomly taking divots, ruining a whole big patch of turf, is not acceptable if we expect to conserve the maximum amount of tee space.
In order to maximize the tee use for players, the following procedure is recommended to be followed:
- When you take your divot, always place the next ball right behind it, and continue with subsequent balls back in a line until you reach approximately a two foot distance.
- Once you've reached a two foot distance, move the ball over slightly and start another line moving back in the same manner.
- Once you've completed hitting, you will end up with one square patch on the tee where you hit which maximizes the use of the tee. It uses far less turf and is far easier to maintain, so more players have some good turf to hit off and make for a more pleasurable experience at the Club!
