June 21st

Illumination of earth by sun summer solstice in northern hemisphere

It's June 21st, the longest day of the year and the first day of summer!

Environment Canada is calling for it to be cloudy with sunny periods and 40 percent chance of showers early this morning. Clearing this morning. High 27. UV index 9 or very high. Tonight there will be a few clouds with increasing cloudiness overnight then 60 percent chance of showers. Low 15.

With very dry conditions golf carts ARE PERMITTED today. However please be sure to scatter to avoid excessive wear on turf. Obey white line traffic direction around green surrounds.

Green speed today is 9 feet.

Today the fairways will be fertilized with the first application since last fall's dormant. With rain in forecast, the timing of this application will do wonders for stressed turf conditions by the weekend.

The second preventative spray application of Banner Maxx for Summer Patch control will be applied today before the predicted rainfall the next few days.

Fescue area cleaned up around pond and 5 tee

A lot of work has be done this season cleaning up fescue areas around the property.  These areas become overrun with weeds and raspberries if left unmanaged.  Last fall many of these areas were mowed down prior to winter. However, with the wet spring the growth in these areas has been excessive.  We plan to carry on this work around the property as time permits which will help speed up play and create a more aesthetically pleasing open links environment.

Have a great round.
