August 12th

During a clear and breezy day yesterday, were are pleased to announce the Ladies defeated Windermere in the Interclub golf event here at MLG&CC!

Today Environment Canada is calling for it to be mainly sunny with the fog patches dissipating this morning. High 27. UV index 8 or very high. Tonight: A few clouds. Fog patches developing after midnight. Low 14.

Golf carts ARE permitted today. Green speed is 9.5 feet. Please remember to repair ball marks on greens and fill divots with seed provided.

USGA tour with Adam Moeller

Yesterday you may have seen a large group of men walking around the course.  Our Club hosted an event where 40 area Superintendents and Assistants toured the course with Adam Moeller who is an agronomist for the USGA in the Northeast Region.  The walk-around identified and examined trouble areas, offered solutions and reviewed current agronomic practices.  The Club will receive a report from Adam based on the findings from the visit.  Thanks to Plant Science who sponsored the event.  Plant Science is an innovative, science-based environmental fertilizer company which provides technologically advanced products to the golf industry.

Today is a routine course setup day in prep for the weekend.  With the Club Championships this Saturday and Sunday, the course will be set up with normal green speeds with the greens single cut and rolled as prepared for any normal weekend.  Hopefully the rain holds off to provide green speeds of at least 10 feet.

A reminder next Tuesday August 16th the front 9 tees will be aerated, seeded, topdressed and fertilized to start the recovery process of the stressful summer weather. The process will be repeated on the back 9 on Thursday August 18th.
