September 2nd

Greens sprayed for cutworm damage this morning

The course is being prepped for the Labour Day weekend. Environment Canada is calling for a couple hot humid days with today a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 32. UV index 8 or very high. Tonight: Partly cloudy with 40 percent chance of showers late this evening and overnight with risk of a thunderstorm. Low 19. Saturday will have a high of 30.

Golf carts ARE permitted today. Green speed is 10 feet.  A reminder that the first tee time goes forward to 8 am starting Tuesday September 6th.

Greens are being sprayed this morning to control cutworm with Sevin T&O.  Sevin provides excellent control of surface feeding insects and is a suitable tool for IPM (integrated pest management) programs. It is an outstanding curative insect control material (after the problem has been determined), has a short soil residual, and has a favourable applicator and environmental record.

A reminder that Greens and Approaches will be aerated on the 12th & 13th of September.  The front 9 will be closed Monday for aeration so members will be able to play the back 9 undisrupted.  Tuesday the front 9 will re-open and the same process will occur on the back 9.  Hopefully the weather cooperates so this process can be completed efficiently in this two day timespan.  Thank you for your patience and understanding during this important cultural practice.
