April 30th

Frost again this morning so crew is delayed once again on getting on the course first thing in the morning.  Looking at the weather forecast, it looks like it's the end of the cold nights.  Temperatures look to be getting into the low 20's by mid week will lows in the double digits to give the grass a little kick-start.

Environment Canada is calling for it to be mainly cloudy with 30 percent chance of showers late this afternoon. High 11. UV index 4 or moderate. Tonight: Cloudy with 30 percent chance of showers. Low plus 5.

Tee times will remain at 11 am until Wednesday morning.  Starting Wed the tee times will go back to 10 am until and then go back to 9 am on Saturday May 12th.
With the warmer temperatures now here we will put out the ball washers and open the course washroom before the middle of the week.

The greens were just aerated and topdressed last week so they remain a little soft and bumpy until the holes recover with some heat and growth in the coming week.  The greens are therefore not at their peak season speed at this time of season (running 7-8 feet).  We were glad to get this disruptive process out of the way before opening the course.

Weak turf areas on fairways will be aerated this week then all the fairways will be topdressed after the  cores are cleaned up.

Preparation of sodding and seeding of trench work done last fall for installation of fiber optic cable for Jonas Club Management Software will be started this week.  We will then start work on necessary sodding around select bunkers and tees needing minor patchwork now that sod is available.

Remember to use cart paths where provided while traveling around the course.

Enjoy the early quiet part of the season.  Have a great round!
