May 15th

Clubhouse area prepped for sod delivery today
Another busy day today leading up to the long weekend as we install sod around the clubhouse area to cleanup work from last fall's fiber optic cable install.

Today Environment Canada is calling for it to be sunny with a high of 25 except 17 near Georgian Bay. UV index 7 or high. Tonight:  Clear with increasing cloudiness near midnight with 60 percent chance of showers overnight. Risk of a thunderstorm overnight. Low 10.

Golf Carts ARE PERMITTED, please use paths were provided to reduce wear and tear on the turf.
Green speeds are slower than our summer target at the moment.  However cutting heights are down closer to our summer level and therefore should speed up by the long weekend as topdressing sand has a chance to wash into the turf canopy and if wet weather stays away.

Tees were verticut yesterday.  Today they will be cut and topdressed with sand to help dilute the thatch and provide a firmer, smooth surface.

Core aerification of the green surrounds will continue today.  Seven surround complexes were completed yesterday in thin turf areas where poa annua grass struggled last season from extreme heat and drought conditions.  We will follow in behind with some CSI-Rye™ seed and some organic soil amendment and some turf starter fertilizer to establish a new aggressive turf variety that is more tolerant of disease, drought and wear that also requires less mowing to reduce emissions.

The remainder of the week we will focus on placing more sand in greenside bunkers, grooming ditches along the road and trimming around tee and fairway yardage monuments.

Have a great round.
