May 18th

Michael installing bubblers in the pond this week
It got pretty cold again last night.  I suspected we might have frost again like yesterday morning but the cloudy conditions prevented that from happening.  The crew was able to get out early at 6:30am today to start the final prep for this holiday weekend play at the course.

The dry days and cooler night weather has slowed down the turf growth again, holding up recovery from any thin or damaged turf areas.  It's been extremely dry during the day with humidity levels below 40%.  Next week's lows are predicted well above seasonal which should make for some better growing weather to help promote summer conditions.

The weekend weather is looking great!  It's looking like it will be sunny and 26-28 degrees all weekend long which should make for a great weekend for golf and maybe the first dunk into the lake!

Golf carts ARE PERMITTED today.  Please follow the WHITE LINE rule and keep carts back away from green surrounds to prevent unnecessary wear and tear and compaction on the primary rough areas.  Many of these areas have been OVERSEEDED with our attempts to establish more stress tolerant turfgrasses that require less fertilizer, chemicals and water. Please try and stay to cart paths were provided.

Acelepryn™ will be sprayed around the outside of the greens this morning to prevent Annual Bluegrass Weevil invasion (which we have a history of getting) onto our collars and approaches.  This is a new generation environmentally safe insecticide that has low toxicology and has been proven to have low impact on non-targeted pests.

A reminder that greens will be VERTICUT AND TOPDRESSED this coming Tuesday May 22nd in the morning.

GREEN SPEEDS are approaching our targeted mid-season levels.  Next weeks verticut and topdress should help take the speeds up a notch to mid-season levels in time for the DAVE ELLIS PRO AM.

BUNKER SAND has been placed in many green side bunkers this week to help increase playability. This process will continue over the next 2-3 weeks in prep for the summer season.

To help keep you abreast of information, we have now installed the new BULLETIN BOARD at the first tee, as promised, to display Golf Course and Proshop information you can view before your round.

We hope you enjoy the condition of the course for this early part of the season!

Have a great weekend!
