June 16th

Today Environment Canada is calling for a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 29. UV index 8 or very high. Tonight: Partly cloudy. Low 18. For Fathers' Day on Sunday:  Mainly cloudy with 60 percent chance of showers in the morning and early in the afternoon. A few showers beginning in the afternoon. Risk of a thunderstorm in the morning and afternoon and evening. Wind becoming south 30 km/h in the morning. High 24.

Despite aeration this week, greens are rolling pretty nicely (9.5) and by next week should be back to regular target speeds thanks to the "golfer friendly" 1/4" coing tines.  The tight tine spacing allowed us to remove a moderate amount of thatch while creating an excellent seed-bed for overseeding T-1 bentgrass as mentioned in the GCM blog http://mlgccgreens.blogspot.ca.

Golf carts ARE PERMITTED today.  Please scatter cart traffic to avoid wear of the turf and use cart paths where provided whenever possible.  Stay back 30 yards from green surrounds indicated by white lines.  Remember to repair ball marks as the greens are a little softer after this week's aeration.

Greens and tees will be topdressed lightly on Tuesday morning next week (June 19th) to smooth out any remaining depressions from this week's aeration.

Tee times go back to 7am next week with the official start of the summer season.  There will be 8am shotguns on Monday and Wednesday prior to the afternoon Mens' and Ladies' Day events.

Have a great weekend!
