Regrading No. 14 before placing sod today to ensure proper surface drainage
Yesterday the temperatures started off in the morning at 15 degrees then dropped down to 6 by the middle of the afternoon with north winds of 16 km/h off the lake making the Club training day in the clubhouse by the fire quite the place to be!  The temperatures went down to 1 degree last night, reconfirming our decision to sod some greens was the right choice.  Today it is supposed to clear this afternoon with a north wind 30 km/h gusting to 50 with a high of 11!

The course reached the total saturation point with another 25mm of rain falling yesterday, making the total accumulation over the last few days to 75mm (3").  Golf cart use is RESTRICTED today until the course has a chance to drain.

It was too wet to place and grade the topsoil in around No. 13 green and No. 14 tee, so the sodding is not yet complete on the project till hopefully early next week (weather permitting).

Yesterday we stripped the worst ice damaged areas on No. 2, 14 and 17 greens and today we will have the areas sodded with bentgrass.  The added benefit from stripping these areas off, we were able to regrade the areas slightly to improve the surface drainage that caused the damage in the first place.  It's always nice when you can 'kill two birds with one stone'!

No. 2 green is always one of our wetter greens.  Prior to sodding will will install tile drainage in the green to help with the internal drainage and help improve green consistency during wet periods.

No. 17 green has a severe slope on the front right.  The green will be raised approximately 4" in that area to slow down the green slightly to help provide more pinable areas.

The temporary PTO tractor pump at the driving range has been running 24/7 and continues to pump water directly to the lake outlet at the docks.  With the 75mm of rain we received we have lost some ground on the battle, but hopefully the rain has stopped and we can catch up in the next few days to drain the area.

The 8" irrigation leak on 2/8 fairway was finally fixed and buried yesterday.  We now need to site to dry a little to clean up the clay soil and prep it for sod.

Have a great round!
