COURSE MAINTENANCE
Fairway Expansion Aeration/Overseeding/Todpressing - The crew worked some long days again and the fairway expansion areas have now been aerated and the cores removed using our newly purchased Toro Prosweep. The labourous task of removing cores has now been made more effortless using this machine. The fairway expanded areas will be overseeded with bentgrass today fertilized and topdressed. All the remaining fairways we hope to have topdressed before the weekend.
WEATHER CONDITIONS
Yesterday was partly cloudy with highs of 23 degrees making for some good drying conditions for sweeping up cores. Last night's low stayed above 11 degrees to help maintain soil temps for seed germination and turf recovery. Looking forward, Friday night the low is supposed to cool down a bit to 7 degrees. Today were are predicting partly cloudy skies with chance of afternoon thundershowers and a high of 21.
GOLF CARTS are permitted today. Conditions are firming up with lack of significant rain. Please scatter cart traffic to avoid wear over concentrated areas and avoid any remaining wet low lying areas.
COURSE PLAYABILITY
Ground Under Repair - Treat all new sodded areas IN ROUGH as 'ground under repair'. No. 18 fairway has been overseeded to recover ice damage. Treat any bare areas on No. 18 as 'ground under repair'.
Greens - Green speeds are slower at the moment with softness from aerification and extra topdress.
Rough - Mowing crew is on near finished their second trip around the course this week. Rough is thick but cut down.
Bunkers - The bunkers were raked this morning and more attention to sand levels in the coming week.
Driving Range - The driving range is closed until further notice. The PTO pump that continues to run 24/7 continues to gain and should catch up on the flooded conditions if the heavy rain stays away.
Course Etiquette - Please remember to repair ball marks and replace divots. If carrying your golf bag and using the sand tubes, please use on FAIRWAYS ONLY. Maintenance staff repairs all tee divots and uses a different seed then what is used on fairways.
TREEWORK
Over the next couple of days the wood dismantled beside No. 5 green will be hauled to our stockpile area.
GARDENS
Chris and Scott have completed the required work for the plant-up in around the Clubhouse, Proshop and Tennis area, and are now focusing on getting the course gardens up to standards with some weeding and cultivating.
