| Verticut and topdress greens today |
The greens are getting their biweekly topdressing this morning. The current moderate weather is also favourable to allow for a light verticut prior to topdressing to stand-up laying over grass and cut bentgrass stolons to produce more lateral shoot growth and help fill in any thin areas. The greens should be in fine condition as we lead up to next weekend's Club Championships starting with Monday's Senior Club champs (part of Men's Day).
Following behind the mowers, the sprayer will be out on the front 9 fairways ONLY to apply Primo Maxx growth regulator to promote lateral growth and reduce clippings and mowing requirements. Triton fungicide was added to the tank to control dollar spot disease. The application will be split over two days with the back 9 fairways treated Friday morning in order to stay ahead of golfers during this busy time period.
The bunkers are getting a good going through. The back 9 bunkers were check yesterday for sand depths and were edged on the green side bunkers. The sand was moved around to ensure the required sand depths throughout the bunkers. The front 9 greensides will receive the same treatment later today.
BUNKER SAND TRIAL STARTED AT DRIVING RANGE
We need member input on a new bunker sand for our future bunker renovation! A bunker sand trial has officially begun at the driving range chipping green south-side bunker. The sands are labeled A, B, C, and D. Please take the time to try the four sands and rate your favourite!
First rank the sands by PLAYABILITY (how the sand plays)
and then rank them by AESTHETICS (how the sand looks)
submit your entry to feedback@mlgcc.com
We hope to continue this trial till the end of the month. Thanks for your feedback!
Have a great round!
