Men's Day on a Tuesday

The full crew is back from the long weekend with a full mow day to prepare the course for the double shotgun. The 8am shotgun for regular member play and 1:30pm for Men's day shotgun.  All playing surfaces included greens, tees, approaches, fairways and bunkers, and rough green surrounds will be groomed for another busy day of golf.

WEATHER CONDITIONS
The moderate weather has continued over the last couple of weeks and appears to be hanging in with us for the next two week period as well.  Days with highs of 23 to 24 with lows of 12 to 14 seem to be the norm for some great golfing and turf growing weather!

Today Environment Canada is calling for a mix of sun and cloud with 60 percent chance of showers. Risk of a thunderstorm late this afternoon. High 22. UV index 8 or very high.  Tonight, mainly cloudy with 30 percent chance of showers. Risk of a thunderstorm early this evening. Low 15.

GOLF CART USAGE
The course has firmed up after some time to dry after last week's rain.  Golf carts are permitted for FULL USE today.  Please scatter cart traffic to avoid concentrated excessive wear patterns on turf and keep carts on paths whenever possible.

PLAYING CONDITIONS
Greens
Greens will be at standard speed for today's round with recent drier weather.  The greens were cut and rolled today.  With this Thursday's verticut and topdress we are trying to squeeze in, it will stand up the grass that's laying over and help fill in any depressions caused by ball marker and foot traffic to create a smoother putting surface for the coming Club Championships the following weekend.  We will continue some dimple-seeding of bentgrass on occasion to continue to fill in any remaining voids in any struggling turf areas.
Tees, Fairways, and Approaches
These playing surfaces were all mowed today.  The tee divots continue to be maintained by our staff, and will continue this process after the busy weekend.  Please do your part in filling fairway and rough divots ONLY.
Rough
The rough mow crew are back and will focus their attention on the green surrounds today to provide consistency from green to green.   The big rough unit will start on No. 1 area and start to work around the course and finish loop #1 by tomorrow afternoon (weather permitting).
Bunkers
Bunkers will be raked today following the greens and tee mowing.  We will be conducting a BUNKER SAND TRAIL later this week at the driving range.  The bunker left of the chipping green will be filled with three different sands to get your feedback on type of sand we should select for the future bunker renewal program.
Driving Range
The driving range is open for FULL USE.  The seed from last fall is starting to come up out on the range and will slowly green up the ball landing area over the next couple of weeks.  We will attempt to overseed the range tomorrow (Wednesday) during it's regular closure time to help fill an any bare areas (weather permitting).
Ground Under Repair - Treat all new sodded areas IN ROUGH as 'ground under repair'.  The rough right of No. 4 fairway has been aerified and overseeded and roped off to allow recovery.
Course Etiquette - Please remember to repair ball marks and replace divots.  If carrying your golf bag and using the sand tubes, please use on FAIRWAYS and ROUGH ONLY.  Do not use sand tubes or bottles to fix tee divots!!!  It is different seed and it's the golf course maintenance staff responsibility to repair all tee divots on a periodic basis.  Using the sand and seed mix on tees will also deplete your available material for fixing fairway and rough divots prematurely!  Thanks for your cooperation!

UPCOMING TURF PRACTICES
  • Continuing overseeding on greens 14, 17, 3, 5, and 7
  • Finish plugging No. 10 approach and other misc locations.
  • Overseed driving range (Wednesday August 7th during closure)
  • Prune trees behind No. 3 green to allow more air flow.
  • Thursday August 8th:
      • Greens verticut and topdressed
      • Fairway Primo Maxx + Triton (dollar spot) application

    Have a great round!
