Hot, Humid and Busy

I think we can officially say that mother nature has decided to skip spring and go right to summer. The hot and humid temperatures will once again continue today and for the rest of the week. With only a quick rain shower yesterday, the Dave Ellis Pro-Am had a nice day for golf.
Now that the first tournament of the year has passed, it is once again time for everyone's favorite cultural practice, aeration.  This will be taking place next Monday and Tuesday. Monday, the front 9 greens, tees and approaches will be aerated. This 9 will be closed for the day. The same process will be done on the back 9 will be done Tuesday with it also being closed. It is important to get this done now as growing conditions during the mid summer months are not favorable for recovery and growing new turf.
This week, fairways will be verticut and topdressed. We have started on the back 9 today in order to get it finished for the ladies clinic Thursday and Friday. This is a very important cultural practice for the fairways. It is very difficult to pull and clean up cores from the fairways so the next best thing is an aggressive verticut. This will improve ball roll, firmness, water infiltration and thatch depletion.

Lastly, on Thursday of this week, we will be finishing up our sodding blitz. Like all the other sodded areas, we ask that you treat these as ground under repair.
Enjoy the nice weather and have a great round!
