There were three lightning delays during yesterday's first day matches of the Men's Invitational, causing 2-3 holes left to finish by the teams before the final two matches of the tournament begin today. With all the storm activity around the area, we were lucky only to receive 6.7 mm of rain!

The greens will be double-cut and rolled this morning and all the bunkers raked before the 8:30 am resume of play. The last two 9-hole matches of the final day competition are scheduled to begin at 10:00 am assuming no more weather delays.
This morning there are still some light showers lingering in the area. Showers are supposed to end late this morning then a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 20 degrees.
The greens should remain relatively firm despite what would be double the amount of water received by rain then what we would have applied by irrigation. The drill and fill process of injecting sand down 10" into 3/4" holes, has done wonders to firm up our older topsoil based greens with no internal drainage. This procedure is set to repeat this fall immediately after Thanksgiving giving us a total of three treatments since 2012.

A reminder that greens are scheduled to be aerated this coming Tuesday and Wednesday September 9, 10 with the minimal disruptive 1/4" tines. (The front nine will be closed on Tuesday for aerating, and then the back 9 will be done Wednesday.) These smaller tines will provide minimal impact on the surface, to get the greens back to prime condition quickly for the remaining great golf left between now and Thanksgiving.
Enjoy the remainder of this year's event!
