| Twenty Years Ago Hole No. 7 |
The 7th hole was the last hole to receive a major overhaul in 18 years now. The greens department has done its best to work with what we have while the Club has saved capital to address the road issue. But now it's time to get back on with some course upgrades, which is the shared sentiment of the Greens Committee.
Hole No. 7 if you recall back then, had a pond on the right side reachable from a good tee shot. The green was low lying and remained wet during increment weather. There were two bunkers short of the green guarding the approach shot. There was an open ditch located just past the green on the left to aid in drainage.
In 1997, Tom McBroom our course architect at the time, redesigned the hole. New tees were built to include separate back, middle and forward tee decks. The pond was filled in and a large fairway bunker was added to the left of the landing area. The green was raised approximately three feet to allow for the necessary drainage, and new large greenside bunkers were constructed around the left and front right of the green. A culvert was installed in the ditch behind the green so the green could be enlarged to provide ample pin placements. In 2005, a pond was installed behind the green to further address the drainage issue in that location. The fill from the pond was utilized to construct the mounds on the right side of hole No. 1 to help contain errant shots, and to provide more fill at the back of the driving range.

"Approach shots often run through the green. Try to land your ball on the front of the green or even short of it."
