Taking Advantage of Course Recovery Opportunities After This Weekend's 23mm of Rain and Cooler Temps

Until this past weekend, we went over 14 days without a drop of rain with the average daytime high of 30.7 degrees C.  It is safe to say the last couple of weeks have been challenging to the turf.  The crew have worked tirelessly in this heat and done an amazing job working steady dragging hoses around to keep up with the required watering to keep everything alive.

The greens are holding up well in this heat and dryness.  Last Tuesday morning's spray application of wetting agents was timely to help maximize the uptake and retention of water that is applied.

The greens are due for their monthly "venting" with pencil tines which we plan on doing tomorrow morning (Tues) after topdressing.

Ice-Damaged Areas on Fairways will be aerated, overseeded and topdressed this week.

On the fairways with the cooler temps and moisture relief, we plan to go back and aerate, overseed and topdress this week to promote recovery in the ice damaged locations.  Please do your part to minimize your travel on fairways whenever possible.  Leave your cart in the rough or on the path if possible to help relieve stress on the emerging seedlings.

An application of wetting agent, humic acid, seaweed kelp and a small amount of fertilizer was applied Saturday morning and Monday morning following the rain to help recover the hot spots in the rough.  The wetting agent needs the soil to be pre-wet and then watered in to be effective which is why the fairways were a little more moist then desired for playability and cart use Monday morning.

Thank you for your patience as we carry out these important cultural practices.

A reminder that the range is closed for maintenance weekly on Wednesday mornings to mow do any maintenance on the new tee, cut and trim the rough, target greens and trim bunkers.

Have a great round!
