August 10th

Water lilies in 16 pond

Today the course is being prepped for this morning's Ladies' Day Event at 8 am.

The course received 3.5mm of rain yesterday then another 3.5mm early this morning, equivalent to two times the amount of water the course would normally receive through irrigation (if water was needed).

Therefore the course will be playing a little slower with the soil moisture levels.  Green speed is 9 feet.

Golf carts ARE permitted.  Please avoid wet areas and use cart paths were provided.  Remember to fix ball marks and repair divots using sand and seed mix.

Today Environment Canada is calling for it to be mainly cloudy today.  Fog patches dissipating early this morning with 30 percent chance of showers early this morning with a risk of a thunderstorm. . Wind becoming west 30 km/h gusting to 50 late this morning. High 20. UV index 3 or moderate. Tonight: Cloudy with 60 percent chance of showers this evening. Clearing overnight. Risk of a thunderstorm early this evening. Wind west 30 km/h gusting to 50 becoming light after midnight. Low 11.

The driving range tee was sanded and seeded yesterday.  The rainfall came and prevented the sand on the teeing area from being matted in properly.  Tee will be matted once weather conditions allow.

The chipping green at the driving range is also awaiting drier weather conditions to prevail before sod can be laid properly to achieve accurate grades without settling in overly wet soil.

A reminder next Tuesday August 16th the tees will be solid tine aerated, seeded, topdressed and fertilized to start the recovery process of the stressful summer weather.

The Club will be hosting a USGA agronomist tour sponsored by a fertilizer company called Plant Science tommorrow morning from 6:30 am to 9:30 am.  Up to 30 area superintendents/assistants will be walking the course to learn solutions to various issues concerning golf course management.
