July 27th

Canadian Open at Hamilton Golf & Country Club this weekend
It's the last Friday of July and another beautiful weekend in the forecast.  Today it will become a mix of sun and cloud with fog patches dissipating early this morning with a high 27. UV index 6 or high. Tonight: It will cloud over with a low of 17 then clearing Saturday morning with a high of 28.

The cooler night temperatures in the last week have relaxed the stress on the turf.  The 4.5mm of rain received Wednesday night was welcomed, but not enough to saturate or thoroughly wet the soil.  The cloudy weather yesterday gave us a break from the hot sun that has persisted over the past couple of months.

Today is a regular mow and course setup day in preparation for this weekend.  A foliar spray of liquid fertilizer will be applied on the greens first thing this morning following the greens mowers.

Golf carts are permitted however please keep carts to paths where provided to avoid added stress to the turf.

A reminder that greens will be topdressed the morning of Tuesday July 31st following Pro's day Monday.  Some overseeding of bentgrass will be done in isolated thin areas on greens prior to the topdress.  This is a great opportunity to establish more bentgrass in these areas while the poa annua is under stress at this time of year.

Have a great round!
