Irrigation central computer glitch sent sprinklers on unexpectedly yesterday |
It's Friday before the civic long weekend and the course is being prepped for the busy play. Hopefully no one got soaked.
Today it will clear as fog dissipates with a high of 27. UV index 8 or very high. Tomorrow is looking to be a scorcher with temps up to 33 degrees before the rain moves in Sunday.
Golf carts are permitted but please scatter cart traffic to avoid concentrated wear and tear on the turf. Keep carts on paths where provided and stay back from green surrounds as indicated by the white lines.
Remember to do your part and fix ball marks (and others) and replace or fill divots in fairways and rough. Sand tubes are available for walkers as well and refill stations are available at No. 5 and No. 14 tees.
The greens that are struggling with the heat and drought were overseeded earlier this week on No. 3, 8, 12 and 15 in the 1/4" aeration holes prior to topdressing. We are trying to take advantage of the opportunity to establish hardier grasses (bentgrass) in these areas to replace the weak Poa annua that can't tolerate the extreme weather conditions. The sand spread over these areas may make things look a little worse until seedlings emerge in the next week. The mowing heights have been raised slightly in these areas to aid in the recovery.
Remember to post your course comments available this weekend in the new COURSE COMMENT BOX behind No. 18 green.
Have a great round!
