Bunkers pumped out at driving range today |
The 33rd Men's Invitational went well despite the weather challenges. See the MLGCC GCM blog at www.mlgccgreens.blogspot.ca for an update on winners of the tournament.
Today's forecast is for it to be sunny with a high of 19 degrees. The low tonight is supposed to get down to 5 degrees so there could be a chance of frost in some areas! Wednesday and Thursday the temperatures are supposed to get up to 28 degrees again. What are year for weather!
A reminder the front 9 will be closed for aeration tomorrow (Tuesday September 11th) and the back 9 will be closed Wednesday and the front reopened. The greens will be core aerated using 1/4 inch tines which make smaller holes and will be less disruptive then in the past. Thursday will be used as a rain date if necessary to carry out this important process. The approaches will be aerated as well with 1/2" tines to improve playability by adding more sand content to these areas.
Our program of greens aeration for thatch (organic layer) management has never skipped a beat and we are in a luxury position to use less aggressive approaches to maintain the greens. September has become a busy month on the golf course with 6 major golf events scheduled adding to the demands for continued playability of the golf course with less disruption to turf.
Have a great round!
