June 25th

Flooding from severe rainfall last night flooding low lying areas by 2T

WEATHER CONDITIONS
A heavy rain fell in the middle of the night dropping close to 50mm of rain within a two hour period flooding the low lying areas of the course.  Bunkers and cart paths were washed out and a power outage prevented the drainage pump from running to keep up with the excess water.  There has been finally a couple hot days reaching 30 degrees Sunday and Monday with warm muggy nights in the high teens to kick the turf into high gear.

GOLF CART USAGE
Golf cart usage is suspended at this time until the cart paths have been repaired and the drainage pump has a chance to catch up with the overflow.

COURSE PLAYABILITY
Greens - The bentgrass is loving these warmer nights and has now kicked-in with a surge of growth which will aid in the remaining required recovery from winter damage.  The greens have recovered nicely now after two weeks since the core aerification.  With the verticut and topdress today, the greens will be rolling quite nicely by the weekend.
Driving Range -  The driving range is still closed until further notice.  The PTO pump almost had the range pumped down by late yesterday.  Last night's 50mm of rain has unfortunately brought the levels back up to where we were a few days ago.  Hopefully the rain will stop and we can have the range open in full service capacity by the beginning of next week.

Range is flooded again after last night's 50mm rainfall
Fairways - The fairways are in excellent shape overall this season.  The winter ice damage on No. 18 is now starting to recover as overseed bentgrass is starting to grow with warmer night-time temps.
Rough - With the ideal moisture and temperature conditions, the rough continues to grow rapidly.  We may get a little behind over the next day while we wait for areas to drain from the flooding.  Hopefully the rain holds off and we can catch up before the weekend.  There is some patches of clover that are also loving these conditions which we are spot spraying today on the high and dry areas.
Bunkers - All bunkers were washed out and most have standing water which will be pumped out and allowed to dry before thorough raking can be performed.

Bunkers are flooded and washed out after last nights downpour
Ground Under Repair - Treat all new sodded areas IN ROUGH as 'ground under repair'.  No. 18 fairway has been overseeded to recover ice damage.  Treat any bare areas on No. 18 as 'ground under repair'.
Course Etiquette - Please remember to repair ball marks and replace divots.  If carrying your golf bag and using the sand tubes, please use on FAIRWAYS ONLY.  Maintenance staff repairs all tee divots and uses a different seed then what is used on fairways.

COURSE MAINTENANCE
Greens Verticut and Topdress - The greens are being verticut and topdressed this morning.  The verticutting will help stand-up grass that is laying over to provide a smoother surface.  Where the turf is cut vertically on the bentgrass turf plants, the stolons will send out new lateral shoots which will help fill in remaining thin areas.
Rough Weed Spray- The rough will be spot sprayed with ParIII/Mecoprop to control clover and other broadleaf weeds currently actively growing.
Washout Repair - Bunkers and cart paths are being repaired from heavy rainfall.

Have a great round!
