June 27th

The course has dried up from Tuesday night's recent flooding of the course quite nicely.  I wish the same was true for the low lying driving range which doesn't drain as efficiently due to it's relationship with the lake levels.  We were so close to have the driving range pumped down before the storm.  Then we were back to pretty much square one!

The crew has been working hard over the last couple of days to repair the damage to bunkers, paths and gardens caused from the heavy rains.  Some other course detailing has been put aside to accommodate this extra cleanup work.  We hope to have the course back in respectable condition for the coming holiday July 1st weekend...let's hope the rain holds off!!!

WEATHER CONDITIONS
The last couple days have been consistently high 20's with low's in the high teens for some good growth of the healthy turf, but a little stressful to the recovering turf areas.  Today Environment Canada is predicting a high of 25 degrees with 60% chance of showers and a thunderstorm this afternoon.  The high percentage threat of rain continues for Friday and Saturday but the temperatures are expected to drop to highs of only 21 degrees and lows in the low teens which will be a nice break for the struggling turf areas.

GOLF CART USAGE
Carts are permitted for full use.  Please scatter traffic to avoid compacting turf and use cartpaths where provided whenever possible.  Avoid low lying wet areas.

EVENTS
Today and Friday is the Manny Zerman Clinic.  Saturday there will be a Titleist Fitting from 10-3.  Check with proshop for details.  This Sunday will mark the first family event with the Opening Mixed Tournament 8am and 1pm shotguns.

COURSE PLAYABILITY
Greens - Cut and rolled today with speeds rising to just above 9 feet.  Sodded areas on No. 1, 2 and 10 still need some tender loving care with the recent wet/heat.  We will try and baby these areas with rolling only for next few days till solid rooting establishes.
Driving Range -  The driving range is still closed until further notice.  We are gaining again on the water level and hopefully the rain will miss us predicted the next few days.  Tuesday another electric pump was installed to try and boost more watter and tomorrow morning we will attempt to install the electrical pumps into the wetwell with the water levels now down to enable 24 hour pumping with the levels hopefully caught up.
Fairways - The Primo Maxx spray Monday has taken effect reducing clippings after surge of growth.  Fairways looking real good at the moment with combo of heat and rain.
Rough - Crew is back cutting after one day where it was too wet to cut.  Now all the low areas have been mowed for this weekend's play.
Bunkers - Work on bunkers to recover from damage from washouts was finished over the last couple days.  Traps received a hard rake treatment this morning and the sand conditions will improve with drier weather.
Ground Under Repair - Treat all new sodded areas IN ROUGH as 'ground under repair'.  No. 18 fairway has been overseeded to recover ice damage.  Treat any bare areas on No. 18 as 'ground under repair'.
Course Etiquette - Please remember to repair ball marks and replace divots.  If carrying your golf bag and using the sand tubes, please use on FAIRWAYS ONLY.  Maintenance staff repairs all tee divots and uses a different seed then what is used on fairways.

Grasses behind 10T pruned to allow more air flow to back of tee and putting green

PLANT PROTECTION PRODUCTS
Greens Spraying - A preventative Banner Maxx spray to control summer patch was applied to the greens this morning prior to play.

Have a great round!
