Despite challenges at the range, Manny Zerman Clinic was enjoyed by participants Friday |
WEATHER CONDITIONS
June has been another we month with 150mm of rain falling on the course, compared to only 75mm last season over the same period. With 75mm (3") of rain this week alone, we are ready for mother nature to shut off the taps and provide us with some sunshine and moderate temperatures to dry up the course and driving range and help our waterlogged/struggling turf.
Since Friday's rainfall we have seen more moderate temperatures with Friday's high staying below 23 degrees and overnight low's just above 16. Saturday remained mostly cloudy with minimal sunshine and high's not reaching 20 degrees. Optimum soil temperatures were maintained with last night's low of 16.
Today Environment Canada is predicting a return to moderately warm day with a high of 25 with mainly sunny skies.
GOLF CART USAGE
Restrictions placed on golf cart usage Friday were lifted Saturday morning. Please keep carts on paths were provided whenever possible and please avoid any low-lying wet areas.
EVENTS
Today is the first family event with the Opening Mixed Tournament 8am and 1pm shotguns.
COURSE PLAYABILITY
Greens - Green were cut and target rolled this morning before 8am shotgun. Greens are now drying up after the rain received late in the week. Expect slightly faster green speeds with firmer conditions.
Driving Range - The driving range is still closed until further notice. The 150mm of rain this month has eliminated the chances of having the facility opened as normal. Two electric pumps are now installed which are running 24/7!
Bunkers - Green side bunkers were raked before this mornings shotgun start.
Ground Under Repair - Treat all new sodded areas IN ROUGH as 'ground under repair'. No. 18 fairway has been overseeded to recover ice damage. Treat any bare areas on No. 18 as 'ground under repair'.
Course Etiquette - Please remember to repair ball marks and replace divots. If carrying your golf bag and using the sand tubes, please use on FAIRWAYS ONLY. Maintenance staff repairs all tee divots and uses a different seed then what is used on fairways.
Have a great round!
