Bad sod on No. 1 and 2 replaced yesterday to decrease recovery time |
Golf carts were postponed for this morning while the course was allowed to drain. The rest of the day saw sunshine with windy conditions and threat of thunderstorms and severe weather warnings throughout the area.
Crew was sent home for the day as course standing water prevented the start of regular mowing activites this morning.
GREENS RESODDING
The purchased sod has given us nothing but trouble establishing a root system to sustain healthy growth on certain sections of greens. In an effort to regain these areas to top quality conditions as soon as possible, yesterday we resodded the front of No. 1 and suffering sections on No.2 using our quality sod from our own turf nursery.
Where we have used our own home grown sod on the course before there seems to be no issues. The sod we grow receives the same treatment as the rest of our greens, and as a result shares a common growing medium and cultural practices important to the survival of the grass with very little thatch and same rootzone mix.
A priority will be placed on re-establishing our sodbeds from seed in the coming week(s) to ensure an adequate supply of quality sod going forward for various projects and repairs.
We appreciate your patience in this matter.
