Tees verticut today

The last couple of days have remained mainly cloudy with extremely humid temperatures and highs of 27 degrees.  Last night's low of 19 dropped just below the 20 degree theshold where Pythium blight likes to thrive.  These humid, clamy days favour the development of dollar spot disease which is evident on some of our tees and fairways at the moment.

WEATHER FORECAST
Today will be mainly cloudy again with 60 percent chance of showers and a risk of a thunderstorm this afternoon and a high of 25. UV index 6 or high.  Tonight will remain partly cloudy with 40 percent chance of showers. Risk of a thunderstorm early this evening. Low 20.

GOLF CART USAGE
Golf carts are available for FULL USE today.  With extra traffic with peak season play, please SCATTER to avoid compacting turf in concentrated areas.  Use CART PATHS where provided whenever possible.

EVENTS
Our next event will be Ladies' Day tomorrow with an 8 am shotgun start.

COURSE CONDITIONS
Greens - Greens will be cross cut today using the triplex.  Green speeds are 9.5 feet with humid weather and slightly higher mowing heights to promote greens recovery from winter damage.
 

The front of No. 1 green will be resodded today

We can't wait any longer!  Unfortunately the front of No. 1 green will be resodded today.  The sod in this area never did take well.  Establishing good rooting with conditions either too wet, too cool, or too dry have provided challenges for this low lying area.  The front edge of the green may be shrunk back slightly to avoid some of this poor growing location.
Tees - Will be mowed and verticut today.  Topdressing will follow later this week on Thursday.
Rough - Green surrounds were all mowed yesterday.  Today the focus will be on the tee and bunkers surrounds with the lightweight riding mowers and finishing the first lap around the course on the big rig.
Bunkers - The bunkers were hard raked this morning to loosen compacted sand then fan raked to reestablish the desired smoothness.  Sand depths will be monitored and corrected during this process.
Gardens - The beebalm is starting to come out on the property to provide a peak season show of red.  Today's application of deer repellent Bobbex will be delayed until Thursday this week with threatening rains.
Driving Range -  The majority of standing water is now gone at the range as of yesterday!  However, until the subsurface has had a chance to dry, the Driving Range continues to be open for PARTIAL USE ONLY. We ask that you hit only from the stations that are set up, and only at the flagsticks set up (yardages are indicated on the permanent marker).  The range will be closed during certain times to hand pick as needed, and for Junior Clinics. Thank you for your understanding.
Ground Under Repair - Treat all new sodded areas IN ROUGH as 'ground under repair'.  No. 18 fairway has been overseeded to recover ice damage.  Treat any bare areas on No. 18 as 'ground under repair'.
Course Etiquette - Please remember to repair ball marks and replace divots.  If carrying your golf bag and using the sand tubes, please use on FAIRWAYS ONLY.  Maintenance staff repairs all tee divots and uses a different seed then what is used on fairways.  Please put broken tees in the trash bin.

COURSE MAINTENANCE REMINDERS
Tees will be topdressed Thurday morning.
