July 23rd

Greens venting, topdressing and verticutting scheduled today

WEATHER CONDITIONS
Yesterday's high reached a moderate 25 degrees while night-time temperatures dipped down to a cooler 14 degrees just before daybreak to give the turf another breather after last week's heat wave.  Today there is potential for thunderstorm activity with a weather cell coming from the north-west.  Today's forecast is calling for increasing cloudiness with a few showers or thunderstorms beginning this morning and ending this afternoon. Wind becoming west 20 km/h this afternoon. High 25 with temperature falling to 18 this afternoon. UV index 3 or moderate. Tonight, partly cloudy with wind west 20 km/h becoming light this evening. Low 10.

EVENTS
No scheduled golf events for today.  Greens maintenance morning scheduled to vent and topdress greens.

GOLF CART USAGE
Golf carts are available today for FULL USE.  Please be mindful of stress on turf caused by concentrated traffic.  Scatter carts to avoid excessive wear.  Please use cart paths where provided.  Keeping carts on paths on par 3's is a good practice.

SCHEDULED GREENS MAINTENANCE
Greens scheduled venting and topdressing last Tuesday was postponed until today due to excessive heat wave conditions last week.  Today greens will first receive a much needed verticut and mow prior to the venting process to stand-up laying over bentgrass.  The greens will then be topdressed, vented, overseeded, matted and rolled hopefully before the rain rolls through the area.

COURSE CONDITIONS

Greens
- Maintenance day in progress.
Tees - Were mowed this morning.
Rough - The rough mowers will focus tee and fairway bunker surrounds today.
Bunkers - All bunkers will be hard raked today to loosen up sand
Ground Under Repair - Treat all new sodded areas IN ROUGH as 'ground under repair'.  No. 18 fairway has been overseeded to recover ice damage.  Treat any bare areas on No. 18 as 'ground under repair'.
Course Etiquette - Please remember to repair ball marks and replace divots.  If carrying your golf bag and using the sand tubes, please use on FAIRWAYS ONLY.  Do not use sand tubes or bottles to fix tee divots!!!  It's the golf course maintenance staff responsibility to repair all tee divots on a periodic basis.  Using the sand and seed mix on tees will deplete your available material for fixing fairway divots prematurely!  We also use a different seed on the tees for shadier conditions and quicker germination.
Driving Range - Friday, a hydrovac truck arrived to flush out the basins and remove debris in the pump chamber at the driving range and basins and tennis area.  The pumps had to be removed and reinstalled to complete this process.  The standing water on the range is pretty much all gone!
The Driving Range remains open for PARTIAL USE ONLY at this time while hand picking is still required. We ask that you hit only from the stations that are set up, and only at the flagsticks set up (yardages are indicated on the permanent marker). The range will be closed during certain times to hand pick as needed, and for Junior Clinics. Thank you for your understanding during this wet season with high lake levels.  It's been a battle!  With the drier weather the water levels are dropping and ditches are getting lower allowing us to get ahead of the standing water.

Have a great round!
