Big maintenance day planned with break in the action

Greens venting today
A little break in the action as the Club championships are behind us and we are just over two weeks away from the Men's Invitational tournament the first week in September.  The greens are being vented and topdressed this morning to help condition them for the next round of playability demands.  Greens No. 14 and 17 will be aerated and slitseeded to promote further recovery of all turf areas.

The tees will be topdressed today and the fairways will be topdressed on the front 9 starting later today as part of the agronomic process of diluting thatch and firming up and smoothing the playing surface.

Don't forget the bunker sand trial is still going on until the end of the month down at the driving range.  There are four sands to try and give us your feedback regarding playability and aesthetics.  Once a direction for the Club's master plan is established, the greens committee will make it's recommendation to go with the sand which best represents the needs of the members for the upcoming bunker renovation program.

While we are in the midst of recovering from the busy summer of play on the course, please do your part and help us repair divots on fairways and repairing your ball marks on greens.

With the weekend just around the corner, don't forget to sign up for the fun-filled closing Mixed tournament on the golf course this Sunday August 25th featuring the theme of 'The Great Gatsby' with a competition for the best costume!  An 8:00am or 1:00pm shotgun start is available.

Have a great round!
