By this time of year, the night-time and day-time temperatures are fairly moderate and a little rain does wonders to help rebound the course from the heat and traffic stress from the busy summer as the turf takes on an extreme flush of growth. Mother nature is most cooperative this time of year and we try and invest time and effort take advantage of the turf recovery and seeding opportunities now present while the soil temperatures still remain high enough for seed germination and turf shoot growth.
It's unfortunate to say already, but we are using this window of growth to implement practices to get the turf plants healthy enough to survive this upcoming winter and ultimately help ensure prime conditions for the upcoming season. This explains the timing of next week's scheduled greens and tees core aeration which every golf minded soul would rather see us do later in October.
Greens and tees will be aerated next Tuesday September 10th (front 9) and Wednesday September 11th (back 9). We have the luxury of tackling this necessary procedure using smaller, less disruptive 3/8" golfer friendly sized tines due to the fact we have not neglected to carry out this necessary process frequently enough in the past. These smaller tines will allow us to clean up the cores more easily and recover quickly to enable plenty of uninterrupted fall golf on greens and tees till Thanksgiving.
Come out this Monday and remember that this Tuesday September 10th, the back 9 will be open for play with no interruption. We appreciate your patience during this two day process. Hope you enjoy the remainder of the fall golf season!
