The last couple of days were cool with drizzle dampening the course. Today looks drier with it becoming mainly sunny with clear skies and wind picking up to 20km/hr winds out of the northwest with a high of 17 degrees. The course should start to dry out and become firmer and faster and hopefully the threat of rain doesn't materialize over the next couple of days.
The greens were brushed and double-cut all week and will be double-cut and rolled daily for the duration of the tournament for some faster but true conditions in the 11.5 feet range on the stimpmeter. Greens mowing heights haven't been dropped too low to avoid the unplayability that results on many of our severely sloped greens.
Fairways will be cut in the evening after the rounds and roped in the morning to remove dew. The new format of the tournament starting earlier at 9 am doesn't allow enough time to mow the fairways in the morning before play.
We hope everyone enjoys the new format, camaraderie and the conditions provided after this challenging season for turf on the course. Hats off to the crew who have worked extremely hard this summer to provide the best playing conditions possible with what mother nature has dealt us.
