Let The Games Begin!

Quiet day on the course yesterday - "The calm before the storm"
This weekend will mark the official start to summer with the Canada Day long weekend.  The course has be prepared for play and is in great shape for the start of summer holidays.  We await the arrival of the full onslaught of golfers, sailors, swimmers, tennis players and social members who will start to take full advantage of the Club's facilities.  My hat goes off to our staff who have put in endless hours of hard work to make the 2014 season extra special.

The 50mm of rain we received this week has left the course still a little soft.  But it is green and healthy and the sunny weather is welcomed to dry up the course and make for faster, firmer golfing conditions.  Please avoid any low lying areas with golf carts that may still be a little soggy.

The rough and weeds are loving this cool, wet weather and are flourishing with the recent warmer weather.  As a result the rough may be thicker than normal but is all cut down today for the long weekend.  It's a priority to get out and catch up on some weed control around the course once a dryer week presents itself.

This morning a treatment of SCIMITAR CS Insecticide will be applied in spot treatments around the course to control ants that are mounding on greens, tees, fairways and bunkers.  We will also be applying our monthly application of Oars Wetting agent on greens to alleviate localized dry spot.

It will be a busy weekend of play on the course.  Don't forget to do your part and repair ball marks, and divots on fairways.  Remember the turf staff fixes the tee divots, so save your sand tubes for the fairways only!

Enjoy your weekend and good to finally see everyone back!
