Friday Course Preparations For Labour Day Weekend

Another beautiful day on the lakes yesterday

The sky's were clear and full of stars as the crew arrived early this morning.  After a quick coffee, the crew got out with the headlights to prep the course for this final holiday long weekend of the summer.

Today is supposed to be mainly sunny with increasing cloudiness late this afternoon with a high of 22.

All playing surfaces will be prepared today including the mowing of greens, tees, fairways, collars and approaches and the hand-raking of the bunkers.  Our second jobs will include the flymowing of the mounds and the push-mow routine around the front entrance and clubhouse areas.

There will be a little bit of sand on the ball with the greens topdressed yesterday morning, but the greens should be rolling out very true.

The tees will be sprayed with ParIII herbicide before play this morning to control dandelion weeds that have encroached the playing surfaces with the continued cool, wet weather.  This spray application was re-scheduled to go out yesterday morning after Tuesday's rain, but was postponed to today due to the 20km/h winds which could have drifted the herbicide onto the adjacent gardens causing potential damage from the drift.

Fairways fertilized this morning

This morning, Tru-prill® Fairway 22-3-17 granular fertilizer will be applied to the fairways.  This is a dispersible, long lasting fertilizer containing 70% MU Nitrogen controlled release nitrogen, for sustained feeding up to 12 weeks.  This will be our last granular fertilizer application containing nitrogen before the fall dormant app.

Enjoy the last weekend of the summer!
