Greens and approaches topdressed this morning |
This morning the greens and approaches will receive their biweekly topdressing to smooth out the surface from ball marks and foot prints from the recent wet conditions. The rain received on Tuesday morning led to us having to postpone the scheduled greens topdressing to today.
This morning the greens were cut before being topdressed. Select isolated spots on No. 2, 3, 4 and 10 were punched with 1/4" solid tines and overseeded to promote bent where areas are prominent with poa annua and as a result are struggling. The front of No. 10 is a perfect example of the dominance of the bentgrass turfgrass species over the poa annua. The area where the bentgrass is established is totally healthy, while the poa is under severe drought stress after one hot day due to its shallow, weak root system.

Speaking of bentgrass, our bentgrass nursery between No. 8 and 11 will be prepped for reseeding today. Some more sand material will be added after stripping the used portion to ensure adequate surface drainage.

A recent view of the lake was opened up along the right side of No. 16 fairway, just south of the pumphouse. Deadwood was pruned off the lower branches to expose another great vista from the course!

In the golf world, Tiger Woods has parted ways with Canadian golf coach Sean Foley. It will be interesting who will be Tiger's next golf coach or whether he goes it alone?
Have a great round!
