Rainy Saturday Leads to Soggy Conditions for Sunday
Between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM the course received over 15 mm of rain, putting the Club Championships on hold for just over and hour, to allow the standing water to drain off the greens. Club Champs will continue today with the first group teeing off at 7:30 AM. The course will be playing very slow, and the greens will be very soft so please remember to fix your ball marks.
The Greens will be mowed today, no clean-up cut will be done to help ease stressed areas, and not inflict any scalping on the edges. The pins will be changed and the bunkers will be pumped, pushed up and raked, some standing water may remain in the bunkers after we are done, if you happen to land in water you may take a drop without penalty at the nearest point of relief inside the bunker.
Good luck to Corey Conners of Kitchener, ON. He is playing for the 114th U.S. Amateur Championship at the Atlanta Athletic Club. The last Canadian to win was Gary Cowan in 1966 (Merion GC) and 1971 (Wilmington).
Good luck to all competitors today, and everyone enjoy their round!!
