Winners Of Club Championships Crowned

We'd like to congratulate the two winners of this year's Club Championships.  For the women was Jordon Newlands and for the men was Will Leak.  It's nice to see such young talent involved in the Club's annual golf competition.

Women's Winner - Jordon Newlands
Now with the Club Championships behind us, and we move into latter part of the month of August we will be proceeding with an important practice, fairway topdressing Tuesday morning, which is typically done a few times a season.

The next couple of days will be sunny and just over 20 degrees with rain supposed to arrive on Wednesday. With this forecast, we will put a push on to try and get ALL the fairway topdressing done on Tuesday to beat the weather.
However, whatever doesn't get completed on Tuesday, we have to be finished later in the week on Thursday or Friday.

The fairway topdressing is done to dilute thatch levels in the turf and help smooth and firm up the fairways for greater playability.

This morning the greens will receive their weekly dose of Primo Maxx growth regulator and foliar fertilizer, to keep the greens nourished and the growth regulated to allow same speed of putts later in the day.  This will all be done before the morning shotgun at 8:00am.  The greens, fairways and collars and approaches will all be mowed and the bunkers will be raked.

Yang beats Conners in US Amateur final
The 20-year-old South Korean never trailed while completing an improbable run to the U.S. Amateur title Sunday, beating Canada's Corey Conners 2 and 1 at Atlanta Athletic Club.  The loss came one week after another Canadian, 16-year-old Brooke Mackenzie Henderson, was beaten in the final of the U.S. Women's Amateur. This was the second straight U.S. Amateur final featuring two international players. The 22-year-old Conners, from Kitchener Ontario, who played at Kent State, reached the semifinals last year and again came up short of becoming the first Canadian winner since 1971.

Brad Fritsch finishes in top 10 at Wyndham Championship

Brad Fritsch 36, from Edmonton, Alberta was one shot back at the Wyndham Championship starting the final round to finish tied for 8th place for the tournament.  Fritsch, who is playing his second full season on the PGA Tour, put himself in position to challenge for his first victory on tour and his third top-10 finish.
