It's sad, but the summer holidays have ended. The kids are back to school including all our summer work staff. After the long winter that just past, many of us are not ready for summer to end just yet. But the good news is that the fall is a great time for golf. The days are crisp and nature's fine display of colours start to take hold. The nights become cooler to permit a cozy fire during the evening hours.
The first tee times are now bumped back to 8am instead of 7am, with the shorter daylight hours and the start of the shoulder season. The full crew (or what remains of the crew with the summer students gone) is back to prepare the course after the Labour Day weekend. It's a short week as we start to prepare the course for the upcoming 3-day Men's Invitational beginning with Thursday's practice round.
Today all the main playing areas will be mowed including the greens, tees, fairways, approaches and collars. The rough green, tee and bunker surrounds will be mowed and the big rough unit will start it's rounds on No. 1. The bunkers will not be raked today but got a full treatment before yesterday's rounds.
The greens will be sprayed this morning with Rovral Green fungicide to control dollar spot disease.

Today will be mainly cloudy with 40 percent chance of showers this afternoon with a high of 22. UV index 5 or moderate.

Special Notice to Golfers - Remember to yell "Fore!"
The greens crew does its best to prepare the course before play each morning. Unfortunately with the numerous tasks that need to be completed throughout the week, not all work can be performed before golfers are on the course each day. As a result, there's work that needs to be done later in amongst play after the first jobs are finished.
We recognize the risk of getting hit by golf balls is increased under these circumstances. We've noticed there seems to be a trend that the common etiquette of golfers yelling "fore" isn't being practiced as regularly as before. We ask for safety purposes that you give out a yell of “fore” to warn golfers and workers of errant shots. One of our workers was hit this past Friday, with another two close calls on the Labour Day weekend, with no “fore” being yelled out. Please remember this practice before someone is critically injured or killed.
Thank you and have a great round!
