Firm and Fast

It has been a very dry spring here in Muskoka. The lack of rain has made the clean up of cultural practices much easier but has slightly increased the stress on the turf. The greens this weekend remain untouched from aeration but the fairways have been verticut. You will notice in some areas of the fairways that the turf will appear to be stressed. After such a large process such as verti-cutting, the turf will naturally be stressed. Although the fairway fertilizer is starting to kick in, the stress on the turf will still be noticeable in some areas. Tomorrows predicted rain will be much welcomed!

This morning on the course; greens will be cut, pins and blocks will be rotated and bunkers will be raked. The greens continue to be firm and rolling true. As mentioned before, the fairways have been verti-cut but are still very firm and are rolling great.

The weather for today is suppose to be a little cooler than this week past. Highs are suppose to be around 20 degrees with light winds. The UV index continues to be moderate to high as well.

Also, there is some breaking news from the world of professional golf. Tiger Woods has actually made the cut at Muirfield  Village. This is Jack Nicklaus' tournament and many top players are participating this weekend. Hopefully Tiger can make a run and get back to his old championship self!

Enjoy the beautiful day and have a great round!
