Last Day of Spring

Today is the last day of the Spring! It feels just like yesterday that we were uncovering the greens from the winter time preparing for the grass to start growing. All joking aside, it has been a fantastic spring. There have been many positives to build on from the spring going into the summer. Mother nature has co-operated, the greens crew has been working very hard and the course is looking better and better everyday. There is no doubt the club is heading into the summer on a high note.

Opening ceremony for the Ladies Member/ Guest

This past week at the club, our ladies had their Member/ Guest event on Thursday. Accompanied with excellent weather and a great theme, the day was a great success. Here are the winners from Thursdays event.

Over the past few weeks, many important cultural have been done. These summer and surface preparation practices went very well. Recovery from the aeration last week is on schedule and the fairway verticut recovery has gone very well. The fertilizer applied on both surfaces has resulted in a uniform colour and excellent lateral recovery. Our scheduled verticut on greens this coming week has been pushed back to allow the greens to fully recover from aeration. Having said that, sand will still be applied on Tuesday to aid the recovery and firm up the putting surface.

A few trimming projects took place around the course this past week. Banks on the side of 4 tee, 7 tee, 11 green, 12 tee and 16 tee were trimmed back for aesthetics and visual improvements for play.

This morning on the course, greens will be mowed and rolled, pins and blocks will be rotated and the bunkers will be raked.

Weather for today will include a high UV index of 9, temperatures around 23 and light winds out of the south.

Enjoy the last day of spring and have a great round!
